less than satisfying

"Our scheduled raid fell apart last night when we were short a required class or two. So we decided we would go have a look at solarian, none of us had ever downed her and the majority of the raid (23 people) had never even seen the boss. 5 attempts later she was down. If you can do vr/lurker/gruul you should be doing this boss, she is not any tougher than those. We didn't have a prot pally, a feral druid a ret pally or a boomkin.One possible reason is the greater availability of spell hit for other DPS caster classes. We did have an enhancement shaman but I think he was the only offspec in the raid. People in my guild have suggested it But, in all reality...This has gradually negated the DPS advantage gained by affliction locks through Suppression. solarian only has a few good things...In other words, the spell hit granted by Suppression to affliction locks in early raid instances like Karazhan is really "ahead of its time", contributing to the build's stellar performance in those instances. no teir. I know we tend to look back on the past with rose-colored glasses, and true enough, my experience with affliction again was ... less than satisfying.

"Hey I have my flight form for my druid and am on the last quest in that chain.One possible reason is the greater availability of spell hit for other DPS caster classes. That involves going into Heroic Sethekk Halls and killing the Raven God.This has gradually negated the DPS advantage gained by affliction locks through Suppression. I have never been to a heroic dungeon and really have no desire to raid or do heroics.In other words, the spell hit granted by Suppression to affliction locks in early raid instances like Karazhan is really "ahead of its time", contributing to the build's stellar performance in those instances. I like instaed taking other characters and reaching max level. Excellent work yet again. So here is my question.And a great thanks to one of my favorite actresses around! This series isnt about gameplay. Is that Heroic really hard and could I go as a non heroic type geared druid just to get my form or do I need to go heroic dungeon hopping and get the proper gear.Its a character piece. Why the difference

With all the stories of WoW reaching its peak usersbase this week, this latest milestone seems to fly in the face of industry opinion and proves once again that WoW is as popular as ever, especially over in the Far East. other DPS caster classes

"There are two different things here, I feel. One is addiction : an inability to stop playing. Excellent work yet again. That's a problem. The other is spending too much time playing - which is also a problem, but IMHO a seperate (though related) one. My one real complaint about the game itself these days is simply the time investment required to raid successfully.And a great thanks to one of my favorite actresses around! This series isnt about gameplay. This is NOT a ""raiders have no life"" post - I know that many people successfully combine (fairly) hardcore raiding with a busy work and social life - but for some people it's simply not a viable combination. The irritation is with the fact that this would, so far as I can see, be easy to fix (in logical if not necessarily programmatic terms): all you need to do is to make raid reset timers configurable.Its a character piece. If you only have time to play one or two nights a week, then join a guild of like-minded people and set the reset timer to allow you two weeks between resets. I used to raid.As far as relatability; Its not about being to relate, if anyone can relate to these characters, then something is wrong. It was not by any means hardcore, but I used to spend 2-3 nights a week just raiding, and then some other nights doing other things.The beginning of the series gave you something sort of ordinary so you could recognize the situation, then it takes it beyond average and into the area of FUNNY. I think I can already see the ending though. wow The only point was that addicts are often in denial ;) Its interesting to see that gamers often seem to feel misunderstood when it comes to the subject of addiction, claiming that you cannot be addicted to a game.Kinda like a, "well what now. Fact is that games aren't really all that different from gambling machines looking from the addiction perspective (note, I am not saying both are the same), especially games like wow that are made with addiction factor in the back of the mind. Ofcourse initial damage of a gambling addiction is generally much higher, but I am talking about the addiction itself, not its potential damage. I think the only question that is important in the end is how much of a problem it really is. To Being The Perfect Tank

"For a warrior in the World of Warcraft, one of your most sought after skills will be as a tank with a group in an instance. There are many different dungeons and instance throughout the game, and you will constantly see people advertise for them, needing a tank, healer, and others to join them. By making yourself a good tank, you will earn yourself many group invites to instances throughout your time as a WoW warrior. This, in turn, will earn you some great friends, great loot, and good killing fun. To be a good tank, you first need to know how to handle your character in a fight. From the beginning of your toon to the end, you should know your best fighting tactics and you should be able to pick out the main mob to go for in a fight. During your training, you should be able to pick up weapons that will cause a lot of damage to a mob you are fighting and you should practice with it a lot to ensure that you know how to handle yourself when it comes to being in an instance. Gather all the training that you can, all the spells and abilities, and any enchantments or special armor that will help you during your fighting. When you are invited to be in a group, and you have the time to run the instance, you should go. It doesn't matter if you have run that particular instance before or not, the more experience that you have with any instance, the better you can do overall in the game. If you aren't familiar with that particular instance, ask your friends or guild members who have been there for any tips or advice that they can give you. You can also check with some of the World of Warcraft websites that show quest information and give advice on different areas of the game. Meet with your party and greet them all warmly, after all, they will be covering your behind while you are in the middle of the mobs.

Ask politely for any buffs that will help you, or anything else that your group members can do or provide (such as potions or enchantments) that will allow you to be a better tank. Make sure that you make friends with the group healer, as they can be the difference in your run from a graveyard or a resurrection if you die. " "Remember that you are the rock of the group. wow gold Others in the group will include a mix of healers, warlocks, hunters, rogues, and so on, and most will be casters. Casters are usually physically weaker than warriors or hunters, and you should try your best to protect them by keeping the mobs on you, while they pick them off from a distance. This can be great, especially if you are charging a large group of mobs and you know that you will be overwhelmed alone. Mark the targets with different symbols for each different minion or pet, so your group members will know which ones to attack. The others in your group will start picking off the others, or helping you with the one you have chosen. If an item comes up that is green, blue, or purple, and is one that you either need for a quest or that you can use or wear, it is always polite to ask if you can “need” the item instead of just doing it. More than likely, it won't be a problem, but there are always those few that will gripe about people needing. wow level up If you don't win it on a roll, it gives you the chance to go back to the instance with another group and regain the xp that you get from each instance until you gain the item you need to finish your quest. Being a good tank is more than just knowing how to handle yourself in a fight, it takes a constant sense of where you are, what your strengths are, and how you can use them to become a great tank and to ensure that your group will make it through. Fastest Powerleveling

"One of the fastest ways to level in the game! This strategy has been tested by many people and myself so it absolutely works great! On the down side this strategy only works with mages and priests. A group of a mage and a priest is the ideal way for this strategy to work. Once mage gets instant arcane explosion then it is off to the races by killing groups of monsters slightly lower level than the mage/priest and be able to kill 10-20 of the mobs at once using AOE spells from the mage and the priest's flash heal spell but can also do it without the flash heal spell to some degree. Here are the main spots to grind: lvl 20-22 humaoids in mine in Windshear Crag, Stonetalon Mtns lvl 24-30 furlbolg camps in Ashenvale lvl 28-30 humamoids in Azureload mine lvl 32-35 humanoid farms in Arathi Highlands (Dabryie's Farmstead is GREAT) lvl 35-36 murlocks in northeastern dustwallow marsh. lvl 35-39 trolls in northern Stranglethorn Vale. lvl 36-40 Syndicate camps north of Tarren Mill and into Alterac Mountains (beware casters in some of the camps!). lvl 44-45 humanoid pirates on the east coast of Tanaris. wow gold lvl 46-48 Rage Scar Yetis in Feralas. lvl 53-54 undead at Dalson's Tears in Western Plaguelands (great! but make sure you can ward off fear somehow). lvl 57-60 Ogres in Deadwind pass. Tips for the Mage Use frost nova to root monsters so that you can AOE them without getting damaged as much. Also remember that you can combo frost nova with cone of cold for some massive damage if you are frost specced! If the priest is getting hit you are both dead since his heals will be interrupted. wow gold Make sure you move around to keep aggro on all monsters. Frost nova will also prevent mobs from running when they get low hp. Mage Build Pretty much any build will do, just make sure that you have improved arcane explosion. If you go frost make sure to get improved crit % of cone of cold as well as lower the cooldown on frost nova. If you go fire then combustion is nice for that initial bang. wow power leveling Priest Build Improved PW:S is a very wise investment. Also improved flash heal (70% chance to not be interrupted) is a good thing to have if you want your mage to be able to survive while you are getting hit, however it is not necessary if your mage is doing his job. Finally, a mage can do this himself without a priest but it is much less efficient. Typically a mage can only do this to 3-5 monsters at a time maximum because of their low hp and no healing abilities. wow level up If you do the math, 5/1 is less than 20/2 so by duoing with a priest you are actually increasing your own profits! MULTI-ZONING

"I play maybe 2 hours at most on any given night. Given the small amount of time I have been able to play my main WoW char, I am doing extremely well, far better and way more efficient than most others for the amount of time I have played. A few days ago, I was in Elwynn Forest with a newbie char doing the missions there. Nearly everyone was human. I was the only dwarf I saw all night. Why. Because all the dwarves were up in Dun Morogh, their own starting region. Because I was already level 9 when I hit Elwynn Forest, I breezed through all the missions there, rapidly gaining EXP. At level 9 in Dun Morogh, I left the region because the remaining quests there were either at my level (9), or were a few levels above me. Trying to do quests that are higher levels than you can take many trips to the graveyard, and is not very efficient. I didn't feel like running around trying to find a team, so I left the region and headed for Elwynn Forest. I quickly did the primary missions in Elwynn Forest, jumped to Westfall and did several quests there, until the only quests left were orange and red ones. Rather than wasting time doing an orange quest (a quest 2-3 levels higher than me), I simply returned to Dun Morogh at level 14, and finished up all those level 9-12 quests. I cant tell you how fast you can level by doing quests 2-3 levels beneath you (green ones), rather than 2-3 levels above you! Every 6 levels or so, you should be leaving your current zone, and taking the quests in the neighboring zone. But make sure you dont wait too long! If you wait until level 20 as a human to go do the Dwarf Quests in Dun Morogh, you wont get hardly any exp for them because everything you kill will be a gray.

A powerleveller is someone who maximizes quest EXP. Killing things 2-3 levels beneath you gives smaller amounts of EXP per kill, BUT you can rack it up so much faster. It was awesome last night as a level 17 priest being able to tank my way through a level 13 cave solo while everyone else was grouping up. They may have wondered, ""what is this guy doing here. He isn't getting any exp for this."" Wrong! A level 17 gets about 40 EXP per kill on level 13 critters. wow gold And I was killing them en-masse, plowing through my quests, and then getting 900-1000 EXP per quest. It really adds up! So....dont just sit around in your racial zones, but make sure you hop to the nearest ""other"" zone and take those quests too. You will fly through the levels. If all the quests in your quest log are yellow or orange, consider 'grinding' up 1-2 levels until they become green. Then, not only will you breeze through the quests, but you will have higher levels. wow power level And the goal is level 60....right. POINT FOUR: BOTTING This is where it can get hairy. I love botting. I believe in it. You see, I dont have time to play all that much. wow gold Some people spend 24/7 on this game and get to level 60. I pay as much as they do, yet because I have so much else going on in life, I don't get the chance to sit and play all the time. So I bot. I wrote the Realm Bot just for this purpose. Also, the WoW helper is a great utility that speeds up repetitive combat actions. wow power leveling The Bot is for when you are AFK, and the helper is for while you are actually playing.

You don't have to use them, of course, because you run the risk of being banned, but I do it anyway. What you do is up to you POINT FIVE: SOLOING VS GROUPING Believe me, I know all about power-gaming. Its a solo endeavor. I have played numerous online games, and have wrote third party macros for UO, SWG, DAOC (and now this game). wow level up But there is a cold hard truth you must understand here and now: WoW is a group-oriented game. There are numerous....numerous quests that you just wont be able to solo, or if you do, you will spend 10x as much time on them than if you were in a group of 2 or 3. A few classes, such as Rogue, Shaman and Paladin are generally better at soloing than most, but even they will need to team up for many quests, and most of the 'elite' quests. The fastest way to power-level this game is to find two or three other players, get in a group, and steamroll through multiple quests. Note: You do NOT need to find permanent ""buddies"". What comes next

The Care and Feeding of Warriors spent some time looking back at 2007 not so long ago, and finds itself looking forward to 2008 and beyond this week. I'm more of a Dr. Who man myself, but as the omnipresent third person narrative device I don't think my opinion is much consulted. wow lvl service It's a hard life being a narrative device. As the somewhat emo italic text stated, this week we're going to look forward at where the Warrior class is going, a discussion I quite frankly think will be more interesting in the comments you leave than in my own ramblings. My goal here is mainly to serve as a firestarter, hoping to initiate a few sparks of brilliance from you. wow gold As a result, I'm going to just throw my musings and opinions at the wall here and see what sticks with you guys, what you accept and what you reject. After all, in the end it's the players who will ultimately determine what warriors will become, as they're the ones who'll chose what they do with their characters. My first thought is, looking over the past few years, the trend is that warrior successes in PvP tend to be followed by large nerfs. wow leveln So PvP warriors are almost certainly going to be nerfed in a rather large way if they remain dominant in PvP. I expect mace spec to see the lion's share of this nerfing, perhaps changed into an entirely unrecognizable form removing stuns entirely, but mortal strike is also up for a few changes. It will probably be safe for the next few months, as they just gave a similar effect to hunters and to change MS now would mean having to change that, too, but it will most likely come in whatever patch lays the preparations for Wrath of the Lich King.

If not these, then some change to a fundamental warrior DPS/PvP mechanic, similar to the way weapon speed and rage generation were normalized. Warriors with better gear still, despite nerfs like rage normalization, perform at a much higher rate than before they achieved it. wow level service My tauren warrior does much, much better in PvP now, even against opponents who substantially outgear him. In my biased experience, right around the time I start winning in PvP is when the nerfs start coming. " .

Rage and how to use it

The Care and Feeding of Warriors is as always here for you, the reader, oh and also because Matthew Rossi is some kind of demented idiot who will do something like get out of tanking a raid and then spend two hours grinding on some Blade's Edge quests on his draenei warrior before logging onto his tauren for some PvP. We figure it's best to let him do all his rambling about the class in one place before he has an aneurysm. wow gold Reader Arnold Luschin emailed in recently with what seemed to me a worthy topic for this week's column. Rather than mangle what he said, I'll reproduce it here. Having played a druid to 70, and done a lot of tanking, I am familiar with aggro/rage etc, but I have a warrior specific question for you. Could you possible cover the basics of warrior tanking/fighting ability rotations (i.e. wow lvl service the names of the abilities, and the best time to use them in tanking and grinding/questing). E.g. for warriors, one would use sunder whereas for us bear tanks the most equivalent ability is lacerate (which we incidentally don't get till about level 66 or so...). This has led to him strapping on his DPS gear and dual wielding while still prot spec, and other anomalies he wants to talk to you about. It's one of the ironies of my time playing warriors in World of Warcraft that I often find myself doing exactly the opposite thing I expected. Recently, due to time constraints and personal issues I haven't been able to play as much at night, and have found myself online at a whole different time of day. As a result I've tended to play Alliance again because there's more people online on my Ally server, and my poorly geared human protection spec warrior has found himself somehow raiding again. wow level service It began with a few heroics that impressed some people, a guild tryout I didn't really think much about that consisted of tanking Black Morass over and over again, and now I find myself in Kara, ZA and even Gruul's or Mags as a pure prot spec warrior. I'm starting to remember it all again, how it feels to hold aggro against well geared DPS, the thrill of using your abilities to keep a mob stuck to you while properly keeping those crushing blows off of the table so that your healer whispers you after the fight and tells you he barely had to break a sweat keeping you up despite your horribly awful blues. Professions

"To fix this, Blizzard eliminated the ""skill point"" system that players were using to acquire crafting abilities. Instead, every player has the opportunity to select two and only two ""professions"" in addition to Cooking, Fishing and First Aid. This change is already having a profound impact on the world's economy and social environment as players realize that they're going to have to make some pretty tough choices. That's because many of the available ""crafting"" professions have a complementary ""gathering"" profession. Leatherworkers, for example, need to have Skinning, or they'll be forced to purchase raw materials from other players. Engineers are even in rougher shape since they need three or more skills to fully pursue their craft. On the other hand, Tailors are almost forced to take Enchanting as these are the only skills that don't require a complementary ""gathering"" skill.

As might be imagined, this has become a serious point of controversy among the World of Warcraft beta testers. Those who like the old system enjoyed it because they could be self-sufficient. Hunters and shamans, for example, who are restricted to leather armor until level 40, could gather skins from their kills, create their own armor, and then enchant it themselves. The new system, however, forces players to become more dependent on each other for raw materials, buffs, or bonuses. Indeed, it's hard to escape the idea that this, while probably not as important as avoiding the problem of inflation, was in Blizzard's mind as they developed the new system.

World of Warcraft doesn't currently have a release date, although the company is believed to be shooting for a Holiday 2004 release. GameSpy will continue to follow the progress of this game as it develops.
